Pakistan: Pro-feminism organizations hold rally in Sukkur

Hyderabad, Pakistan: Various pro-feminism organizations took out a big rally in upper Sindh city of Sukkur, the epicenter of anti-feminism in Pakistan.

Various organizations, civil society, lawyers, journalists, writers, poets and social workers took out rallies from Lab Mehran (bank of IndusRiver) to the press club. Apart from women, a large number of men also participated in the rally.
The rally after reaching in front of the press club turned into a big public meeting. It was led by professors Arfana Mallah, Amar Sindhdi, Haseen Musrat Shah (Khana Badosh fame) Aalia Buxual, Attiya Dwood, Marvi Palijo, Rukhsana Preet Channar, HRCP Coordinator Imdad Chandio, noted writers and poets Taj Joyo, Adal Soomro and Ayaz Gul, advocate Shabbir Shar, Jami Chandio, Hamida Ghanaghro, Aisha Dharejo and others. A delegation of Sindhi Adabi Sangat led by Ahmed Solangi, Azad Anwar Kandhro, Prem Pittafi and Sajjad Mehr also participated. Police provided full security to Aurat Azadi March with 4 DSPs, 40 S.H.Os and 1000 COPs.

Addressing the rally at press club the speakers demanding right of freedom to women said women are facing anti-human atrocities including killing them under Karo-Kari (honor killing), giving in exchange for crimes of family males, cruelties under parenthood patronage, enforced marriages, domestic violence, social inequalities, and keeping them out of education. They said in upper Sindh area no voice was raised before, but now that women freedom voice has been raised and vowed to fight against deprivation and discrimination of women henceforth.
